The recommended power-on sequence is to first apply VDD (1.8V to 3.6V) and then apply VDDIO (1.8V to 3.6V). This ensures that the internal voltage regulator is powered up correctly.
To enter sleep mode, set the 'sleep' bit in the control register (0x1D). The BMP085 will then enter a low-power state, reducing current consumption. To wake up the device, reset the 'sleep' bit.
The 'oss' register sets the oversampling rate for pressure and temperature measurements. A higher oversampling rate increases the resolution of the measurements, but also increases the measurement time and power consumption.
Use the barometric formula: altitude = (1 - (pressure / 1013.25)^(1/5.255)) * 44330. The result is in meters.
The temperature measurement accuracy is ±1°C (typical) and ±2°C (maximum) over the operating temperature range of -20°C to 85°C.
