A thermal pad is recommended under the package to improve heat dissipation. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness and a thermal relief pattern on the PCB are also recommended.
Use a soft-start circuit or a current limiter to reduce the inrush current during turn-on. This can be achieved using an NTC thermistor or a current sense resistor.
The maximum allowed voltage stress on the HS1J's pins is 1.5 times the rated voltage, but this should be limited to a maximum of 100ms to prevent damage.
Implement a thermal monitoring system to prevent overheating. Use a thermistor or a thermal sensor to monitor the junction temperature and take corrective action if it exceeds the recommended limit.
Use a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) diode or a zener diode with a voltage rating higher than the HS1J's maximum voltage rating to protect against ESD events.
