A thermal pad is recommended under the package to improve heat dissipation. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness and a thermal relief pattern are suggested. Refer to the Diodes Incorporated application note for more details.
The SDM20U40-7 requires a bias voltage of 5V to 15V. Ensure the input voltage is within this range and the output is properly terminated to prevent oscillations. A decoupling capacitor of 10uF or larger is recommended.
The SDM20U40-7 is rated for operation up to 125°C. However, derating is recommended for temperatures above 85°C to ensure reliability and prevent thermal runaway.
The SDM20U40-7 is an industrial-grade device, but it is not AEC-Q100 qualified. For automotive or high-reliability applications, consider using a qualified device or consult with Diodes Incorporated for custom solutions.
Use ESD protection devices, such as TVS diodes, and consider adding overvoltage protection circuits to prevent damage from voltage spikes or transients. Follow proper PCB design and layout guidelines to minimize ESD susceptibility.
