    TPL9201PWP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

    • TI recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer, and a separate power plane for the input and output voltages. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the device, and use short, wide traces for the power lines.
    • To ensure stability, use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF, and a maximum ESR of 1 ohm. Also, place a 1nF to 10nF capacitor between the VOUT and GND pins to filter out high-frequency noise.
    • Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 5.5V, TI recommends limiting the input voltage to 5V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the device.
    • The output voltage ripple can be calculated using the formula: ΔVOUT = (IOUT * ESL) / (COUT * fSW), where IOUT is the output current, ESL is the equivalent series inductance of the output capacitor, COUT is the output capacitance, and fSW is the switching frequency.
    • The EN (enable) pin is used to turn the device on and off. Connect the EN pin to a logic high (VIN or VOUT) to enable the device, and to a logic low (GND) to disable it. Use a pull-down resistor to ensure the device is disabled during power-up and power-down.
