A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the power and ground planes as close as possible to minimize inductance. Use a 10-20 mil wide trace for the output voltage and a 5-10 mil wide trace for the input voltage.
Use a high-quality output capacitor with low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a high-frequency ceramic capacitor in parallel to filter out high-frequency noise. Also, ensure the output voltage sense lines are connected close to the output capacitor to minimize noise and voltage drops.
A 10-22uF ceramic capacitor with an X5R or X7R dielectric is recommended for the input capacitor. This type of capacitor provides a low ESR and is suitable for high-frequency switching converters.
Use a shielded inductor, keep the switching node (SW) as short as possible, and use a common-mode choke to reduce EMI. Also, ensure the PCB layout is compact and the components are placed to minimize loop areas.
The UCD9224RGZT is rated for operation up to 85°C ambient temperature. However, for reliable operation, it's recommended to keep the ambient temperature below 70°C to ensure the internal junction temperature remains within the specified range.
